Transitioning from Contracts to Arrival

Preparing Overseas Teachers for their new job in China can be a very daunting task, but the sooner you begin this process, the easier it will be for your new staff to settle into their new role and home. In this microlesson, our Human Resource experts will share tools and resources to help you better plan, communicate and faciliate orientating new staff to: 1) Contractual Terms, Benefits and the Employee Handbook, 2) Visa Processing, 3) Home Relocation, 4) Support for Dependents, 5) Their New Role and 6) Cultural Norms.

Our speakers for will be hosting an informative and interactive meeting where they will share experience having collaborated as Non-Academic and Academic Administrators to ensure a successful and impactful induction for overseas teachers arriving to their school, Suzhou Singapore International School.

Speakers

Ewen Bailey

Ewen has directed whole-school professional development for one of China's top IB World schools, where he fostered a collaborative culture of student-centered professional learning. He has led numerous whole school strategic improvement initiatives, including ICT integration, professional growth & evaluation, leadership development, and staff on-boarding. During the pandemic, he lead an innovative project with England's Department for Education and Oak National Academy that delivered high quality online training resources for thousands of initial teacher trainees and early career teachers.

Henry Wong

In addition to being an accomplished editor on interpersonal relationships, Henry is one of the few administrators that have served in both academic and non-academic roles in a school. He has more than sixteen years of work experience in international schools based in Singapore, China, and the US. His administrative positions have included Senior Admissions and Marketing Manager, Business Administration Director, and Co-head.
