8 Reforms You Should Plan for Now to Recruit Top Staff for the Coming School Year

按此阅读中文版本。

Last year I wrote about the importance of aligning leadership across the school and including stakeholders throughout the school to ensure recruitment supports the desired culture. Heads of School and Principals need to spend their Summer thinking about who they need to hire in the fall to build their school cultures for 2019-20. its no different than a NFL, NBA or MLB draft, in that great teams choose players they need to win the league 2, 3 or 5 years from now. If you are hiring for today, then you are hiring wrong.

This article has some good thought provoking ideas for you to consider over the Summer, regarding recruitment of new staff. However, something even more important to consider, it costs less to retain good staff then it does to recruit new staff. The cost isn’t just financial, turnover negatively impacts student learning.

So when you read my article and this article, be thinking how you can create a better culture that attracts and keeps excellent staff. Nothing else matters, put those big initiatives, must do things, on the back burner, because if you don’t have quality teachers that will see the initiatives through to completion, your initiatives will never achieve their full potential.
